Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

Guatemala 2014 Support Letter

These past two years, I have been so blessed to have had the opportunity to serve in the indigenous Guatemalan town of Cotzal. I have been teaching English at an Elementary school called Colegio HOREB, getting to know families in the community, serving as a representative for W.I.N.D. of God, and participating with W.I.N.D.’s short-term teams. W.I.N.D. has been supporting Pastor Education in the region since 2007 and began supporting HOREB in January of 2012. During my three month stay in 2012 and seven month stay this past year, the people of Cotzal left an indelible impression on my heart. God has blessed me abundantly through these experiences and most definitely changed and matured me.

I am excited to share that I will be returning to Cotzal this year as well. I am planning on spending three months serving in the community as well as helping with short-term W.I.N.D. teams during the year. I will continue my role as English teacher at HOREB while also deepening existing relationships with the people associated with the school and helping to integrate new technology. Like last year, I will visit many families in their homes, praying with them and listening to their needs. As a representative of W.I.N.D., I will aid the organization to better understand what is happening on the ground, serve as their spokesperson, and help with and participate in the W.I.N.D. teams.

Personally, this is a big year for me as I plan on getting married! I am marrying a wonderful woman with three beautiful children. I met Mariajose sitting next to her on a plane last February. After our wedding, which will occur after I complete my three months of service, we plan on living in Guatemala City for a year. I ask for your prayers regarding this huge change in my life.

I also ask for your faithful prayers for my mission work, that God would teach me valuable lessons through it, for my safety as I travel back and forth between Cotzal and Guatemala City, and that God would use me in a profound way for His purposes in Cotzal. Also pray for HOREB, that the Lord would lead them during this exciting new phase as they look toward building their own school!

I estimate that my expenses for three months of service in Cotzal will be about $2000. If you wish to help financially, you can send a check to:
